WHAT WE STAND FOR
Improving Access to Needed Care through supporting:
• Policies that improve healthcare outcomes for Georgians, including sustainable funding for a statewide trauma network and increasing fees on tobacco products.
• The continuation of tax exemptions that allow Not-for-Profit community hospitals to provide essential but unprofitable services, such as emergency care, trauma, neonatal intensive care, and training new physicians.
• Improved reimbursement levels for all Medicaid providers, including supplemental payments for uncompensated care and opposing programs that diminish payments to the providers of medical care, either by reduced rates 0r by diverting funds to third parties, such as care management organizations.
Improving Quality of Care through supporting:
• Policies that allow for increased collaboration among all healthcare providers.
• Legislation that increases the supply of qualified healthcare practitioners in Georgia, including increased funding for medical school and residency slots and strengthened tort reform to reduce frivolous lawsuits.
Sustaining the Ability for Not-for-Profit Community Hospitals to provide needed care through:
• Opposing legislation that unfairly singles out Not-for-Profit hospitals by placing increased burdens on them as compared to For-Profit hospitals.
• Opposing legislation that lessens standards of quality and volume for medical services, thereby increasing cost of services.
