Floyd Medical Center Recognizes Registered Echocardiography Staff

11/13/2009

Each member of the echocardiography staff at Floyd Medical Center has achieved nationally recognized certification as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographers (RCS). This makes Floyd’s Echocardiology Lab the only lab in our service area to have a fully registered staff.

The registered sonographers are Tony Gallagher, Adam Nichols, Rachel Stiles and Pamela Townsend.

The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) recommends that patients request a registered sonographer when having an echocardiogram. Cardiac sonographers have demonstrated standards of competence that enhance the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care.
